I bet you go to bed every night thinking: “Tomorrow, everything is going to change!”…but by morning, you’re sliding down the slippery slope of self-doubt again.
All those shiny tactics, big ideas, and someday goals keep piling up in your notebooks…like that laundry over there.
And when someone asks you what you’re doing this weekend, you’re like… HAH. Good one.
Ok. So you’re feeling mojo-less, underappreciated, and maybe even a little bored with your business.
(Secretly, you fantasize about going back to corporate or get a wandering eye for bridge jobs. Shhh.)
This may be my tough love speaking: But I know there are obvious next steps that you’re avoiding because “learning lots” is safer.
It makes you feel like you’re progressing… even though your prices haven’t gone up in months, you’re so busy working IN your business that you can’t work ON it, and you keep attending webinars on running webinars without actually running one.
As someone who spent 15 years teaching and developed online courses for corporate training companies, education is at the heart of what I do. But without action? Pointless.
Honestly, there’s way too much rah-rah coaching out there today for my liking or your benefit.
I won’t coach a game I haven’t played or strap a proven blueprint on you. And I definitely won’t sell you the newest snake oil: The overnight six-figure success story. GROSS.
You know, growing a business is hard. But it doesn’t have to be as hard as you’re making it on yourself.
Think of me as the Hall & Oates song, pulling your scattered thoughts together to make your dreams come true…
But was I always shutting down my computer at 4 pm, worshipping my bookkeeper, or straightening my hair on the ski slopes alongside my kiddos? Of course not.
From debt and defeat to sanity and savings
Picture paying for the privilege to work…having three hungry, wet-eyed babies…and no food in the fridge. Not even BREAD.
All your credit cards are maxed…you wish you could file a restraining order against the CRA…and all because you escaped your full-pension, full-benefits, full-time job to “follow your passion”.
You feel like a fraud. Like you got a D- on your dreams. You wrestle the sheets at night, thinking you let your family down.
So, what do you do?
Your eyes cling to the one thing you have left:
a cricut machine for scrapbooking.
You post it on Kijiji in the AM, sell it for a scrappy $120 by the PM, and have just enough to buy groceries and put gas in the car.
That woman? She was me only 5 years ago…
…before I hired my first coach and got a 400% return on my investment (even though I had to borrow money from my mom to do it).
…before I booked 40 prospecting calls and got slapped with a “no” until #37.
…and before I crawled out of debt and removed the financial noose from my neck.
I don’t know your story yet, so I’m not going to say what every other coach does: “I get it. Because I was just like you once.”
But if you’ve ever procrastinated on raising your prices, because you thought: “Nobody will pay that. I’d rather make less than worry about getting enough client bookings or filling the spots in my program…”
Or spent 7 hours wading through your inbox, reading emails from experts like: “Quadruple your web traffic in 2 minutes”, “10x your revenue overnight”, “5 ways to get George Clooney to take you out for sushi”…
Or found yourself walking through a graveyard of proven step-by-step formulas that left you right where you started, zombie-fied at your desk, making less than a chimp astronaut…
Then yeah, I’d say we have a few things in common.
I followed the latest tactic trends, because all the cool kids on the business block were doing it…but never saw the promised results.
I tried to solve the growth puzzle FOR YEARS. To figure out what separates successful entrepreneurs who stay on track and get traction…from the ones who hit turbulence and bail out.
And by learning from further-than-me entrepreneurs and listening to their advice, this is what I finally realized: The problem is rarely a lack of ideas. A lack of money. Or even a lack of time.
The problem is not knowing what you need to be focusing on (or building, or selling, or marketing) to accelerate your business growth.
Today, I make more than I could as a teacher. I make my own work schedule, spend time with my kids daily and have a thriving business that brings joy and purpose to my life every single day.
But that’s not the most impressive part to me…
It’s that I’ve been able to teach what I know to help my clients get real results that are even better than my own.
Take Sarah*, for example, a consultant who recently had a sold-out 5-figure launch. In March 2015, she only made $495. In March 2016, she made $14K and now demands a consulting rate of over $125/hour.
Or Mary*, who had been bumping the $900k ceiling for 2 years. Now she’s hiring and scaling her wellness centre to break a million this year.
Variety, connection, growth and contribution…these are the things that keep us in business and make us excited to hear the buzz of our 5am alarm. But often, they’re what we neglect most.
I’m on a mission to change that with a blend of set curriculum (it’s the teacher in me), intensive training, coaching and consulting. So you can move you out of fear and into a place of power.
