Nicole Johnson – Lead Coach
A former middle-school teacher, Nicole decided to resign from the traditional workforce after her oldest son was born and created a work-at-home life for herself.
(And as a single mom of four, let’s just say she understands the challenges of building a business while raising a family more than most!)
Nicole’s been a social media marketing consultant and coach for 6 years, working with major brands to create a strong online presence and grow their audiences.
We met in 2010 and became business besties. And after coaching her myself and experiencing her passion first-hand, I can’t wait to share her heart and smarts with you!
Nicole Johnson is an experienced entrepreneur and online learning specialist.
As a single mom of four children, ranging in age from preschool to preteen, she understands the challenges of building a business while carving out time for family. Nicole is passionate about helping female entrepreneurs achieve big goals without burning themselves out.
A former middle-school teacher, Nicole decided to resign from the traditional workforce after her oldest son was born and created a work-at-home life for herself. With an infant and a toddler in the house, she simultaneously started working on a Master of Educational Technology degree and launched her first online business: a product review site for parents. Nicole spent the next six years, actively involved in the Canadian social media influencer community, working with major brands and developing expertise in social media marketing and online brand development.
In 2010, when Nicole was first starting out as an entrepreneur, she met Shelagh and they became fast friends and business confidantes. Shortly thereafter, Nicole realized that she needed support to succeed as an entrepreneur and she enlisted Shelagh as her coach. Nicole credits Shelagh with helping her to overcome many obstacles in her entrepreneurial (and life) journey!
In 2015, Nicole and her business partner closed their product review site and she accepted an opportunity to begin PhD studies through the Open University of Catalonia, located in Barcelona, Spain. She continues to live in the Greater Vancouver area of B.C. and is completing all her studies online (she does get to “commute” to campus from time to time, which satisfies her love for international travel). Nicole’s research focuses on exploring how mothers who are entrepreneurs develop their business knowledge and skills using online resources.
Also in 2015, Nicole launched a social media consulting and coaching business and discovered that, although her clients valued her social media marketing know-how, what they really wanted to learn was how she was accomplishing so much without becoming overwhelmed. She began offering online coaching to work-at-home parents, but began to realize that her desire to pursue her research career had overtaken her desire for entrepreneurship. She accepted a position as a research assistant at Royal Roads University in August, 2017, where she currently works.
